Making the Holidays Extra-Special With an Easy-to-Stitch Christmas Tree Advent Calendar

Designed especially for anyone who loves to sew, the Christmas Tree Advent Calendar is an easy-to-do project that utilizes only four different quilting and appliqué stitches. It was created to accommodate all levels of crafters and can be completed without the use of a sewing machine. The book contains 25 full-size Christmas tree ornament templates and step-by-step instructions for creating them, the big Christmas tree, and the quilted wall hanging. There is an abundance of illustrations and photographs to help the crafter “see” exactly how the finished product should look. The book provides in-depth information about the supplies needed to make the project; instructions and tips for selecting, cutting, and sewing the fabrics; instructions for assembling the big Christmas tree, the quilt, and the ornaments; and instructions for binding the quilt, attaching the quilt hangers, and using the Christmas tree Advent Calendar.
The finished product provides a quilted or appliquéd ornament to attach to the quilted Christmas tree each day in December until Christmas Eve, with the grand finale of placing the big star at the top of the Christmas tree on Christmas day. “The Christmas Tree Advent Calendar,” Ruthy says, “is especially geared to the parent, grandparent, or loved one who wants to spend quality time with the children during the holidays.”
Author Ruthy Sturgill was born and raised in the Corn Belt of southern Minnesota. Since grade school, her favorite hobbies were reading and sewing; but as a young girl growing up on a busy farm, she didn’t have time to do either. After many years as a military wife, mother, and career woman, the publishing of the Christmas Tree Advent Calendar is the culmination of her lifelong dream of writing a book about sewing. Today for her company, Sunshine, etc., Ruthy is avidly working on creating and publishing the instructions and templates for a magnitude of sewing project ideas that she has carefully documented over the years.
