Count Down to Christmas with the First Devotional Advent Calendar Application Designed Exclusively for Apple iPhone and iPod Touch

Advent08- iPhone/ iTouch App

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 25, 2008

Each year, the Season of Advent (from Nov. 30-Dec. 25) marks a time of preparation and anticipation for Christmas and the birth of Jesus Christ. The fast pace of American life, especially during the frantic holiday season, often leaves Christians feeling disconnected from the true meaning of the holiday. iHabitus, a company pioneering the intersection of technology and faith, presents a new devotional tool created to help the modern Christian find time each day to observe Advent and to hold close the traditions of the season.

Advent08, designed exclusively for the Apple® iPhone™ and iPod® Touch, is a daily devotional tool created to transform Advent, which begins Sunday, November 30, 2008, into an interactive journey of faith. The application beautifully blends daily scriptural passages and devotions with timeless religious artwork and traditional hymns, providing a portable yet highly meaningful user experience. The Advent08 application is currently available for .99 through the iTunes® Store, and can be located by searching keyword Advent08.

Advent08 features include:

A fully interactive Advent calendar, complete with virtual ‘doors’ that unlock daily as Advent progresses.
Twenty-five daily devotions, centered in Scripture, to guide reflection and prayer.
Stunning religious imagery, classic hymns and supplemental prayers that reflect themes from the daily Scripture selection and the Advent journey.
In the spirit of the season, 10 percent of all net proceeds from Advent08 will be donated to World Vision, a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.

The Advent08 application was developed by software engineer Brant DeBow and theologian Rev. Scott Daniel Ryll, MDiv. DeBow and Ryll founded parent company Habitus earlier this year along with co-collaborator Joseph Farrell, the company’s director of program management. The company’s next launch will coincide with the Lenten season in advance of Easter Sunday 2009.

About iHabitus:

iHabitus was founded to foster the daily practice of faith through the use of modern technology. iHabitus develops software that delivers Christianity’s rich cultural traditions using the latest technological advances in a way that is careful, reverent and deliberate. The company’s process is careful, because technology can too often lead to distraction over devotion; it is reverent, so to act as ambassadors of Christ; and it is deliberate, so not to let the medium define the Message.
