About the Author

Ruthy Sturgill started her company, Sunshine, etc., in 1978. Unfortunately, it remained “dormant” while she pursued her career as a program manager with the Federal Government and later as a Government contractor in the Washington DC area. Since her retirement, she has “rejuvenated” Sunshine, etc., and now spends much of her time sewing and writing. She is avidly working on not only creating; but, publishing the instructions and templates for the magnitude of sewing project ideas that she has carefully documented over the years.

Every child looks forward to Christmas but my son especially looks forward to each December when he can use our Christmas Tree Advent Calendar to help him remember how many more days there are until Christmas. Last December, so that all of the children in his first grade class could learn (and have fun) from using it, we let him take it to school. We hung the tree in his classroom and each day during the month of December the teacher let a different child pick an ornament to hang on it. She told me that the children absolutely loved it.

“Christmas Tree Advent Calendar” is a well written and easy to understand book. As the author said, it is “geared to the parent, grandparent, or loved one who wants to spend quality time with the children during the holidays,” and it “accommodates all levels of crafters and can be completed without the use of a sewing machine.” And, the author even provided her e-mail address if you encounter any problems while making the project, you can contact her. But, because the instructions are so well documented and easy to understand, I don’t think that will be necessary. I can’t wait to make one for my grandson!
